12th May 2005
I got up and went to school. Then I went to band and got my French Horn, which I already love.
Today at recess Raechel went to Mrs Gardner with some forms to fill out, and she had to get photos as well, which I had been doing at the time, so everyone was kind of suss about that. It didn’t help that Nikki overheard Mr Kwan talking about the "exchange" in the middle of the Science Competition yesterday, which, I might add, the room was silent. I told her when I was walking home with her not to tell anyone else what she heard, and she promised me she wouldn’t, and she hasn’t. Anyway, what still puzzles me is how he knows about it, because I specifically asked Mrs Gardner not to tell anyone. So, in maths they were talking and apparently came to the conclusion that I was going on exchange or getting a sex "exchange". I don’t know how or why they thought of the latter.
Then when art came I was sitting alone with Nikki in the front room. She asked me what was going on and somehow I just started talking. I told her that there is an 80% chance I’m going. She asked me when-I told her in July and she looked horrified. Then where and I said Germany and she, well, I don’t know. So Nikki probably knows the jist of it, but no one else does. I was going to tell them at lunch-since they basically worked it out for themselves, but I didn’t get the chance.
So I’m thinking maybe next week; when all becomes clearer.

14th May 2005
Today I had my "interview" with the Student Exchange person from Canberra. It was so weird. I had no idea what to expect. I had to go to hockey that morning, as I do every other Saturday morning, and I got back at about 12:30, the YFU person coming at 1:30.
When I got home I had to clean up the house, well, just the upstairs bit, which was really annoying, but I also decided to clean up my room while I was going.
Then I had a shower and got ready. At about 1:45 (she was running late) the person arrived at my door. I had no idea what to expect, so we went upstairs and we sat down.
She asked me a whole heap of questions, which I found incredibly mentally challenging, not just because of my lack of mental ability, because they were just bloody hard questions!
She asked things like, what appeals most to you about school, Which school do you go to, how would your best friend describe you, why did you choose to become an exchange student, what worries you the most, what have you done to get rid of these worries, what I am interested in and if I had any preferences for host family placements, as in age, children’s age, place in the country etc. Wow, that was a really hard interview!
Then Mum and Dad came up and started asking questions. It got kind of ridiculous by about 3pm, when I felt that the same things were being said over and over again, mostly the lady repeating herself. Anyways, it seemed like she wanted to talk more about her own kids anyway. Then she left, and I ate some lunch, because I was really hungry.

Ok, so that's up to date, well, not really, it's upto Saturday, now all I have to do is keep up to date with this and it will be all sweet!
